PIDC Introduces A2501: A High-Performance Anode Material
PIDC is excited to announce the launch of A2501, a new anode material offering improved energy density, safety, and charging performance for next generation batteries. Compared to similar anode materials on the market, including Li4Ti5O12 (LTO) and niobium oxide-based materials, A2501 delivers excellent cycling stability in a wider voltage range (0.7-2.7V) with higher specific capacity (252mAh/g).
Developed and produced in the United States, A2501 delivers significantly higher gravimetric and volumetric energy densities at the cell level. Its micro-sized particle size provides a low surface area and high electrode density, which helps to reduce the side reactions with the electrolyte and improve cell energy density.
Key Performance Highlights
- 252 mAh/g first charge capacity at 0.1C, compared to ≤170 mAh/g from LTO and ≤234 mAh/g from commercial niobium oxide-based anodes
- 95% Initial Coulombic Efficiency (ICE)
- D50: 2.8 µm; surface area: 1.4 m²/g
- Stable in the voltage range from 0.7 to 2.7 V
- Fast charging and strong low-temperature performance
- Enabled zero-volt storage capability
When paired with high nickel cathodes, A2501 provides higher energy density and better safety over graphite/LFP systems, while also offering better low temperature performance and enabling zero-V storage capability.
